
Sunday School Parent Handbook
Mission Statement
Instill love for Islam in our youth.
Help students develop pride in themselves as young Muslims in America and teach students the social skills needed to deal effectively with the challenges facing Muslims in today’s society.
Provide students with an environment where Islamic values based on the Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (S) are taught and practiced.
Follow a curriculum that helps preserve our students’ Muslim identities and provide lessons and activities infused with Islamic values and morals.
Help students build strong moral character based on Islamic beliefs and positive behavior.
Provide an opportunity for Muslim youth to develop friendships and interact with positive role models.
Admission Policy
At least one of the parents/guardians of students attending the Weekend School program must be an active member of MCCGP.
Students must re-register each year for the whole academic year. Payment (to cover necessary tuition and fees for the entire year or one semester at a time) must be submitted at the time of registration.
Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to space limitations.
Admission forms should be completed and all previous balances must be paid before a student will be officially admitted.
A waiver of liability form must be signed at the time of registration.
Parents are also expected to sign up for lunch and safe-recess volunteer duty at the time of registration.
School Timings
11:00 am – 2:00 pm
Attendance
Any student missing more than one third of the classes in any given academic year will not be promoted to the next class. The school will notify the parent ahead of time.
Late Arrivals
Students arriving later than 15 minutes after the beginning of class will not be recorded as present for the purpose of attendance grade.
Late Pick-Up
Students must be picked up at the end of the classes and Duhur prayer.
School Cancellation
Cancellations will be posted on MCCGP and School websites, a voicemail on MCCGP’s phone line, and if fully cancelled, on KDKA, WTAE and WPXI.
Classroom Environment
Bring required books to each class. Lost/damaged books must be replaced by parents.
Respect school property and keep areas clean.
Complete homework; parents should check for completion and accuracy.
Maintain a respectful noise level and wait for appropriate times to speak.
Learn, understand, and live by the words of Allah—especially memorizing Surahs & Ayaat.
Adherence to Curriculum: Teachers follow set lesson plans and pacing.
Civility: All interactions must be polite and respectful.
Learning Environment: Fair, kind, and equal treatment with discipline.
Visitors: Must check in at the office and obtain teacher permission.
Teacher Absence: Classrooms are never left unsupervised.
Attendance: Counts for 20% of final grade.
Homework: Worth at least 20% of total grade.
Discipline: Verbal warning → principal visit → parent contact if needed.
Prayer (Salah)
Prayer is an integral part of the program. Students, teachers, and parents pray together. Students should arrive with wudu, remain quiet and respectful, and wait to be dismissed.
Adhan
Students take turns giving the adhan each week to build confidence and presentation skills.
Lunch Break
Halal pizza, drinks, and snacks are available for purchase; students may bring their own food.
Sit together, maintain appropriate noise levels, and clean up afterwards.
Unacceptable Behavior: running, tossing objects, wrestling, horseplay, yelling, misuse of furniture or food.
Safety & Security
Parents are responsible for their children. Students must not leave premises unsupervised. Prohibited items include unsafe devices, toys, and balls.
Progress Reports & Evaluations
Quizzes, tests, and parent/teacher conferences each semester. Stay in regular contact with teachers.
Suggestions & Concerns
Issues, complaints, or suggestions may be submitted in writing to the Administration or Executive Council.
School Dress Code Policy
Boys’ clothes must cover their entire body except face, head, arms above the elbow to hands, and legs under the knees to feet.
Girls’ clothes must cover their entire body, except face, including arms (up to wrists) and legs (up to ankles).
Clothes should not reveal undergarments.
Clothes should not be skin-tight.
Girls who have reached puberty should wear loose shirts to cover properly.
Sleepwear is not permitted.
The principal has final authority on dress code interpretation.
Acknowledgement & Release of Liability
I have received this Handbook and understand it is my responsibility to read and comply with its policies. I release MCCGP from all liability for injury or illness arising from participation in activities.
